What was your inspiration?
I fell in love with this quilt block and thought it looked like the sails of a sail boat. I had a large stash of vintage solids and wanted to use those solids as a "sea" of color for the sails boat sails. The idea to use only geometric prints and men's shirting prints was the natural choice for this quilt.
What are you most proud of?
I LOVE scrap quilts and so I love the subtle shifts of colors and the wide array of fabrics used in this quilt. I really used up all those fabrics I have had hanging around for years. I think it has a very vintage look.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
The curves in this block are really fairly easy to piece, so if you have done enough piecing to advance to a curved block, I think you will be very happy with trying your hand at this project.
