What was your inspiration?

This beauty was featured in a magazine several years ago. It was on my wish list for Christmas and Santa delivered.

What are you most proud of?

I finally finished the quilting part this summer (2011). I hand quilt on my lap and this quilt was a bit big for me to handle. I just wanted to be done with it so I promised it to my daughter and when it was done I regretted my offer. However, it did go to a good home and is loved.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I'm not fond of kits because they curb my creativity. If you're going to use a kit don't be afraid to add your own touches. You do want your quilt to be one of a kind, not just a cookie cutter version.

This is sticking. I'm surprised you lab quilted during the summer. What little lap quilting I do I usually save for winter evenings. Ha! Nice job.

We had a rainy summer in Canada, where I live during the summer. AND I wanted to finish the quilt while I was on that side of the border so the quilt didn't have to go through Customs when I mailed it to my daughter in BC.

This is a Striking Beauty! Sometimes it's hard to let go of our babies(quilts), isn't it!
