What materials did you use? Cotton leftovers from previous projects plus fat quarters.

What are you most proud of? Getting most of the joins (but not all, I'm afraid) to match - there are an awful lot of them! I used three fabrics (two patterned and one background) rather than the two suggested by Amy on the course. This gave loads of different possible permutations for the finished block and I've posted pictures of some of the ones that were considered. However, in the end I rather liked the one that reminded me of the beachballs I played with at the seaside when I was a child and sewed that one together for the quilt.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Have fun playing "jig-saw puzzles" with the 16 three-and-a-half-inch squares that you end up with before you decide on your eventual block and sew it all together.

Thank you.

Wow, this block looks incredible! Great job!

Thank you - this one was fun, despite the curved seams.

Wow, looks great. So many circular blocks would do my head in and I don't have the patience. Great job.

I was surprised to find that the curved seams were easier than expected - matching the joins neatly was more of a headache. Give it a go - Amy Gibson's demonstration and instructions make it simple!

Hey there Pat - haven't spoken in a while - your projects are looking good - nice to see you are still quilting away - as I am - embroidery and quilting..........nice piece

Hello again! I haven't done any quilting at all for about a year! I had some sewing machine trouble (despite the machine being a new state-of-the-art quilting machine!) which has discouraged me somewhat. However I will get down to it again once I have got it back from the workshop. I think I may do the 2012 BOM again in a different colour from my purple one as I learnt so much from the course that I need to revisit. Glad to know you're still sewing with enthusiasm!

Yeah - I go thru slumps too especially when our machines act up - but then jump right back happy place making things for others
