I chose to do this block too. In a very old patchwork book it was called dirty windows.

Did not know that, I had never seen it before. This is just what I thought of when I saw the blocks for the month, the diagonal lines just did nothing for me so I just went off on my own. well old is new again. I find that that there is a lot of old block that look seem to come back to life in modern quitting/fabric.
