What materials did you use? cotton batik fabric, 80/20 batting, trilobal polyester thread on top, all-purpose thread in the bobbin

What are you most proud of? When I first sewed this quilt top together, I was dismayed that I had chosen fabrics with so little contrast between them that it's hard to see the stars -- so much work, and it didn't look at all the way I had envisioned it. But then it started to look subtle and rich. I decided to quilt it heavily and use a no-pattern backing so that the quilting will be visible. It's all free-motion quilting, no marking at all.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Pay attention to value and contrast in your fabric choice. Fabrics that "go together" won't necessarily provide the level of contrast needed to make your piecing design visible. I did end up loving this quilt, but next time, I'll make it in something like navy and white!
