Materials

I have used a batik, different decorative yarns, and decorative machine stitches so far. Came home tonight, got frustrated with a quilt block and decided to begin this - as Carol Anne says, "There are no rules," and that really appealed to me! The reason that I scored this project as a 3 is that my thread stash seems to be mostly pastel and I'm learning that I need to add a lot of more vibrant colors.

What was your inspiration?

Well, I'm trying to create a surprise for my mother. I want something that is really going to wow her, and don't know if I've quite hit it yet or not. The examples that Carol Anne shows in her course are SO incredibly awesome that I think I am a smidge intimidated. But my decorative stitching pops more on this one than the first one, so I think that it is headed in the right direction.

What are you most proud of?

The colors pop! Ok, so at least SOME of them do!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Check your bobbin thread! I ran out on one of the lines and had to match back up. Managed fairly well, but what a pain! And DON'T let your husband leave the sewing room door open. The dog will run in and hide under the sewing table, clawing at your pedal foot and leg when it's time to go out! And it's probably not a good idea to sew until 2 a.m. because then you get on the web and add projects to Craftsy with really weird descriptions!
