Instructions

pattern was found in book 'Tradition with a Twist' by Blanche Young & Dalene Young Stone

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Materials

8 different colors light to dark, various cotton fabrics, cotton quilting thread, professionally quilted

What was your inspiration?

My inspiration was watching a lady (Blanche Young) say that she does several of these a month at the age of 80+ years of age...I was excited to try it!!! If she could do it, so could I.

What are you most proud of?

That it came out so beautifully. It is only the 2nd quilt I've ever made!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Scan all fabrics on a scanner in black & white mode to get the true color gradation. I stapled a tiny piece fabric onto a 3x5 card and taped it to the sewing machine for reference once I got it right. Before I sewed the long panels together, I layed them out on my queen bed to make sure they were in the right sequence. GOOD LUCK!!! It was fun!!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful quilt and comments. I'm truly inspired to try making this since you said it was the second quilt you'd made. WOW! You are obviously a talented quilter with many great quilts on your horizon.
