What was your inspiration?
Artmomma's Under Water Magic project. I was inspired by her project to make my own underwater scene. I used store bought appliques and also cut out fish designs from fabric and used Steam-A-Seam to applique. Then I blanket stitched around my handmade appliques.
What are you most proud of?
I used the techniques learned in class to make my own beautiful, unique fabric. The tote turned out so well and people tell me it looks professionally made.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
It's easy to turn your Stupendous Stitching into anything you want. I also made use of the Creative Feet Piping and Pearls foot and Ribbon and Sequins foot. I tried two different techniques to attach the sequins. First, I tried sewing a straight line, but my needle broke. Then I tried doing a wide zigzag and that sewed the sequins much better. After sewing the zigzag, ruffle both sides of the fabric around the sequins to have the zigzag stitches fall behind the stitches to hid the stitches.
