What materials did you use? Each version uses 1 120-yd. Scraplet Skein plus coordinating yarns; the following lists are materials needed for each version in addition to the Scraplet Skein. All versions use a weaving needle for sewing. Version 1 needs about 200 yds. of heavy worsted-weight yarn (sample uses 2 balls of Classic Elite's "Waterlily"), plus 1 large button; it's worked on U.S. 15 and 9 needles (24" circular needle recommended for body). Version 2 needs about 100 yds. of bulky yarn; the sample was made with a hand-spun wool/mohair blend boucle. You'll need a U.S. 15 24" circular needle, U.S. 11 needles (for "scarf"), and 3 decorative buttons (optional). Version 3 requires just a small amount, about 75 yds or so, of bulky yarn for the shoulder strap (sample used 3 strands of sport-weight yarn held together). It's knitted on U.S. 15 24" circular needle, and U.S. 11 for the strap.
What advice would you give someone starting this project? Like all Knittique's Scraplet Skeins designs, these capelets give you a perfect opportunity to use up leftover bits of yarn; Version 1 of this pattern needs the most (about 200 yds.), but the shoulder strap on Version 3 only needs about 75 yds. or so. Have fun with your coordinating yarns-- maybe use a completely contrasting color! Play!
