This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Sewing With Knits: 5 Wardrobe Essentials »

Instructions

Yes! when I cut out my pattern, I just ran the lines longer for the front and back pieces. I think I'll add a bit of emboidery at the hem sometime - maybe a bike?

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Cute, Casual

Materials

cotton baby jersey, rit dye, thread

What was your inspiration?

I wanted a t-shirt dress for layering for fall

What are you most proud of?

I figured I'd just try it, and cut it shorter if needed. I eyeballed the lines, to be honest.

my six yr old grandson and i are making him a pair of pj's. he loves the sewing machine. he does great with straight lines so i wanted him try some curves. i only get to sew him a couple times a month when school is in session so hopefully we'll have them done soon. the dress looks great on you! i, too, think your partners have been most helpful.

EVERYBODY did a great job! My granddaughter started learning to sew at 6 - she sat in my lap and placed her hands on mine and made a standup pillow (use an iron to trace a triangular pattern for the ends, then stitch a long rectangle around the sides to make a tube, overlapping ends on bottom to allow for stuffing). She added a clear photo pocket to one side of the flat rectangle first, and a tooth pocket to the other side before attaching to the iron-shaped sides. Her favorite part was...hand sewing the bottom shut! But she loved chosing decorative stitches and hitting the stop and start buttons. She's been sewing fror 2 years now and just finished her first lap quilt. Keep them excited! Photography and a great looking mom is a perfect start.

Thanks everybody! I used to sew with knits when I was a kid, but lately I've been picking them up again. I'm glad I did the class - Meg had a bunch of good tips (I LOVE this double needle).

great dress, that will be my next rendition. The dye looks so even. I just made the yoga skirt and dyed it with Rit, and splotchy city! I don't mind some splotches, but.... I've had the best luck with the Dharma dyes.
