This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Inspired Modern Quilts: 7 Small Projects With Big Style »

Instructions

I added an extra four squares {one of each of the patterned fabrics}.

Instead of laying it out 8 squares x 10 squares this is laid out 6 squares x 14 squares.

I used six fat quarters total, but ran out of fabric for the binding so I added an extra 2 1/2" strip from my stash, it is the purple piece in the binding, about 31" long.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Casual

Materials

6 fat quarters plus one 32 x 2 1/2 strip

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

plan to take extra time laying it out... haha. You'd think it's so quick since it's just squares but there is a bit of playing around with it to get it looking right... it took me over an hour to get these squares where I wanted them

I like your fabric choices, including the purple. Because it has a similar value to your darker greens, it is not immediately noticeable.

Very nice. The extra time you spent in setting it up paid off. It looks great.

Nice mix of fabrics. The purple piece in the binding was a happy accident!

I thought so too. The first thing I ever sewed was a pillow in 7th grade, it was teal, black and purple, when I was looking for fabric to add to that binding the purple just worked for me. Love it.
