Weaving: Scarf # 1

Scarf # 1

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Rigid Heddle Weaving »

Instructions

The instructions in the book called for four sections. I miscounted when I started my warp and made only three sections of green with three of purple. I like how it turned out a lot better. I am still getting used to tension, my tension in the beginning was too loose, then too tight and now I think I'm starting to get the hang of it.

Can't wait to warp my second one.

Difficulty:

Category: Weaving

Type of item: Accessory

For: Unisex

Style: Funky, Retro / Vintage, Casual

Materials

Two skeins of Lamb's Wool Pride that came with the loom.

What are you most proud of?

That I did it at all. I was intimidated by my loom at first, but once I set it up, and had a look at the instructions, everything seemed to just flow.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Really watch where the shuttle goes. If you're not careful it can slip through the warp threads and you end up with longer wefts or longer warps depending on where you slipped. It takes some practice, but I seemed to get the hang of it by the end. I was too concerned about those slip ups with this project since it's my first, but I think with the second I'm going to really take my time with it.

Nice. I made the same scarf with the same colors. I guess it came in your loom box as well.
