Materials

I made an entire quilt with the "Broken Spider Web" block from our BOM

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to make a baby quilt for my new great niece, Savannah. When I did the Broken Spider web block in the BOM course I loved it so much I had to make an entire quilt out of this block. This is the quilt top only, I still need to get it quilted.

What are you most proud of?

How well it came together. I did make a few mistakes but remade those blocks.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I would next time use only one background color. It would make the spiderweb stand out more.

Don't understand what is going on, I try to respond to some of these posts and when I go to save my comments, it thinks I want to follow myself. Now I am following myself twice. Anyone else having this problem?

You are faced with the same delama I have. I am making a broken spiderweb quilt as well. I keep looking at the carpenters star quilt that is so beautifully quilted. It always comes up along the the right hand side because it has over 360 hearts. The quilt has some diamond shaped pieces that are similar to the pieces that make up the star in the broken spider web. I was thinking something like that would be nice. I think the diamond shapes are smaller on the broken spider web. I guess it would have to be a smaller version of it. For the spider web parts I was thinking maybe just stiching in the ditch. I still can't decide if I'm up for this challenge or if I'm going to take it in to a long arm quilter.

Thanks, glad it isn't only me. I was thinking about doing some ditch quilting and maybe something in the stars.

I can't get my reply to save. I pllan to repost after it is finished but am not quite sure how to quilt it. Open for suggestions. I really want the spiderweb to be the main focus. Please help.

This is just great. I had no idea it would make such a neat secondary design once it was assembled!

These materials were all from my stash. It was really fun digging through them.

Put nine broken spider blocks in lines of three side by side and you will finish with this design!!

No pattern, I just followed the directions for the BOM Broken Spiderweb block and made 9 of them, organized them in a square. The first border is 1 3/4" and the second border is 3 1/2". Glad you liked it.
