Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Sassy Librarian Blouse »

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Classic, Retro / Vintage

Materials

Quit weight cotton

What was your inspiration?

This is the pattern that came with the Sassy Librarian Blouse class. I buy a fair bit of quilt weight cotton and it was great that the garment was made to work well with it.

What are you most proud of?

I thought the sleeves went in quite well. Set in sleeves are always a little challenging for me, but there were lots of good tips in the course.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If you follow along with the class, the garment will come together very easily. The class covers everything you need to know, from the basic notions to sewing on the buttons. The only change I made was to use more buttons, placed closer together.

I can't quite remember the sizing info but I worked whatever size was intended to fit a 36" bust and then I graded the waist down to a smaller size

That looks fab and am so glad it's a detailed course as am only a beginner and was just thinking it was time I moved on to blouses instead of just skirts and difficult bags . Frightened of FBA lol

If you're a beginner with a larger bust size, I highly recommend Colette Patterns. I had to do an FBA with this pattern as well, but I've never had that problem with Colette's patterns because they draft for a larger cup size. Also, their instructions are fantastic.

Thanks so much Christine. :) I had a lot of fun making the top and it's a good use for the oodles of quilter's cotton I have around.
