What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just make sure you know how to crochet in the round, if you've made a basic beanie then you are good to go...

Love it! I have been making Santa things for my new born granddaughter Lexi. One is a hat with the buckle just like you cocoon but it came out too large for her. Now I have to find a one year old to fit it! Now you have inspired me to make a cocoon. It will be lovely for Christmas holiday pictures.
