Coming along nicely, pleased with my progress so far. Wondering about the thumb gusset for the other mitt... It needs to be relocated, right?

Beautiful! I love your color choices! You should not need to relocate the thumb gusset for the other mitten. With the simple pattern going all the way around the mitten, they are reversible.
