This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Machine Quilting Negative Space »

Instructions

Nope. Just dig something out and start.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

For: Other

Materials

I re-purposed my first quilted top. It had been at the bottom of a stack that I was hoping to cut up and use some other way. It was perfect as it had some larger sash in solids.

Is this your project? Tell us more!

These colors are absolutely fabulous together. Was it a fabric line or did you pick them out individually? No wonder I follow you!!! :-)

This is not from any particular line, but scraps from my stash. I love green and purple. Two of the purples are from Anna Maria Horner: Innocent Crush and Little Folks

What kind of thread and weight did you use? Your stitches are so uniform...truly beautiful work. Are you serious, you've only been quilting for about six months?

My thread is Gutermann cotton thread. Yeah, i made my first project which was a small grocery bag using a 16 patch front/bag and started doing straight line stitches in December 2011. In February i tried a quilt and did straight line quilting. It was the 'baby quilt for Layla' project posted here on Craftsy. Thanks for the kind words. The encouragement is motivating and glad that I am able to inspire someone to fall in love with quilts/quilting

Getting brave enough to take the first stitch and to not be so critical of myself. I can compare it to being a new driver. When you looking straight down the hood your driving is a little choppy. Then you start looking out a head, and pretty soon you realized one day turns and decisions are coming naturally without even thinking about where you're going. Pretty crazy, but it really just takes doing it, for hours.

Did you do this on a long arm or on a conventional machine?

Thanks!! It was fun. I've been quilting for abut 6 months and keep getting more brave. Craftsy helps shrink one's learning curve by months. Maybe years.
