I FMQ "Spiral Chain" on my first border. On the slashing, I did quilted a modified 2 line "River Path," and put an "Escargot," at every intersection. That gave me a way to change direction and no actual cris-crossing or dead ends. My 2nd border was 4.5 and I did "meandering" and whenever I felt like it, rather random, I'd FMQ a favorite like: Paisley, feathers, wandering clover, my name in a corner.
