Two socks on one circular needle ...

Instructions

and hourglass heel

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Clothing

For: Other

Style: Eco-Friendly

Materials

Cotton yarn 2.50 mm 32" circular needle

What was your inspiration?

Learning a new technique - knitting socks on one needle. Then I wanted to try the hourglass heel.

What are you most proud of?

It's working!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be brave and try it (two socks on one needle). I'm still working on the heel.

Update - 04 Jan 2012: When making adult socks, the patterns usually call for a circular needle anywhere from 36" to 40" long. I found that working with a 47" circular needle works best for me. Having the extra length of cable makes working the knitting more comfortable for me. Now this is using Noro Silk Garden Sock yarn, so it may be different if I were using a superwash wool/nylon sock yarn. A shorter cable may be more comfortable then.

Thanks this is really helpful. Now I can knit one pair at a time instead of one sock at a time.
