What advice would you give someone starting this project? Pay attention to value. This is an excellant example of what Peggy spoke about concerning value. I auditioned the 3 point fabrics against the yellow and thought they were great. I love these fabrics. Got it all put together and I HATE IT!! What was I thinking??? The blue and the green get lost inside each other because they are the same value. YUCK! I had orignallly planned to use a white background and use the yellow in place of the blue. I should have trusted my intuition. I made 2 of each of the other blocks to put in a sampler, but not this one. It's a real stinker.

Your project definately caught my eye! And not just because I love paper piecing! Yes the blue and green blend, but they blend beautifully and I really like it! Your background is great.

Thank you! I really like the yellow too.

This block caught my eye - Jeez, you are too hard on yourself. I love the colors in this block! The green is subtle (I don't like green much!) but the blue and red pop off the yellow!

Thanks. You're too kind. Peggy is such a good teacher. I should have paid more attention to what I was doing.

Aw, I wouldn't call it a "stinker" - you're just frustrated because it didn't turn out the way you wanted it to! (The exact same thing happened to me the first set of blocks I did, too, as I showed in the video, when my dark green and dark purple totally blurred together!) Whenever I have fairly busy fabrics, or when the values are pretty close, I always have to remind myself to have a stronger value contrast than I think I need, especially when the points are long and skinny. Your block is still nice, as the points still show up against the background; you just don't see the woven look as much in the middle as you probably wanted.
