What are you most proud of? when i finished piecing, it was not laying flat at all! it had too much 'slack' but i went ahead and quilted it anyway just for the heck of it. and guess what? it is now perfectly flat! it 'quilted out'.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? I used satin on a couple of the black blocks (i thought it looked more festive), and it makes it look uneven b/c of the way the light shines on it. I stopped using the satin b/c it was a pain to work with and was getting burned with all the ironing that needs to be done. Also, the flat black looked better for the 3D effect i was trying to achieve.

What a beautiful Christmas quilt! I'm glad you shared your story about using the satin - if you try a non-cotton fabric like that again, realize that you will probably need to cover it with some sort of pressing cloth (just a piece of cotton will do) to keep it from scorching. I'm so glad that you decided to keep going, despite a few little problems. Your finished project is lovely - very festive!!

Lovely! And the 3-D effect is excellent - well done, it's a really lovely Christmassy quilt!
