This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Quick-Strip Paper Piecing »

Instructions

I found the instructions had a lot more strips than I needed, especially of strips 4 and 5.

In the video, Peggy assembles the wedges into quarter-blocks and then plays with layouts. I left mine as one-eighth wedges so I could look at the different coloured star options.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Traditional, Holiday

Materials

Cotton fat quarters and remnants, sewing thread, Peggy Martin "Quick Strip Paper Piecing" course materials

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to make a Christmassy table runner, and had originally planned to do three woven stars in a row, but paused to look at the green and red star options as well. I am now thinking of using all three as they are laid out here.

What are you most proud of?

I've only made one serious mistake so far - I sewed the fourth strip when I should have sewn the third, and had to unpick eight pieces - BUT I realised before I'd cut anything, so the fabric wasn't wasted!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Watch the whole video through, then go back and watch each segment again just before you do that step - it's not really difficult, but Peggy has lots of handy tips that make life easier and I just can't remember them all at once!

Your table runner came out great! I particularly love that you used all three color placement possibilities - it's such fun to see all the different arrangements together in one project. Beautiful!
