This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
The Classic Tailored Shirt »

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Men

Style: Classic, Traditional, Outdoorsy

Materials

Armani cotton shirting "Roamin Waters"

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to make a casual shirt for my boss to wear on his boat. I make alot of stuff for his wife and I wanted to make him something special for xmas too.

What are you most proud of?

I altered the class pattern a little to incorporate the bias front band and I also added tucks to the back of the shirt for extra ease.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I used a clean iron and pressing cloth this time and didn't mark the fabric.
Be careful matching stripes - I cut most of this out on a single layer. Matching the stripes on the sleeves to the yoke is most difficult.

Hi, Another fabulous job!! I love the way you've done the front band and the pocket, your boss will love it! Thanks so much, Pam

Thanks Pam ... he did love it that it was all made just for him but it turned out too big so I am taking in the side seams now by 1 inch. The front band and pocket idea came from Project Runway - but I do think it makes a fairly conservative shirt a bit interesting.
