What was your inspiration?
My niece Allie and her husband Shawn wanted the nursery to be themed with "Monkeys, turtles and giraffe's, in the colors of brown and green. I went to my stash and shopped for potential fabrics, some of which were not used, but, gave my a perimeter in which to work. Then I searched for embroidery patterns, and while searching, started to design the lay out of the quilt. It turned out so sweet and my niece, her husband and little Ryder are so happy. Shawn's comment when asked if they would use the quilt or hang it was, " We want our son wrapped in the love in which this quilt was made"....................:-))
What are you most proud of?
My ability to do the math required to make the blocks different sizes but, end up with a perfect rectangle!!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I have a sketch notebook. I sketch and figure out the dimensions of the blocks working with the final shape. Then I insert the embroidery designs and the colors, I would like it to be. I copy this sketch, sign it and give it with the gift. I keep my original in my sketch book.
