What materials did you use? Quilter's rulers for domestic machine, sample cotton quilt sandwiches and polyester thread.

What are you most proud of? I am so glad I finally took the plunge and used quilter's rulers(templates) to free motion quilt curves and straight lines.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? You don't need a longarm to quilt beautiful quilts. If you have a domestic sewing machine give FMQ with templates a try.

thinking about trying these rulers.. Could you please make a suggestion as to which one to try first. Like the arc sm med or lg. Thanks Diane

Hi Diane! I suggest trying the small straight line and small continuous curve rulers I used for these samples. I believe starting small will help in getting familiar and comfortable using the rulers. The curve and straight are are a good combo. However, if you only want to purchase one the curve ruler is fun! I would love to know how it works out for you.

Thanks I will give them both a try. Diane

Wow!! I didn't know there were rulers to use with the domestic machine. You did an incredible job, I'm blown away!

Isn't this exciting news! Thank you! :-D

How did you use the templates with a domestic machine? I would think the screw that holds the foot would get in the way. And do you have a table that makes it flat around the machine bed?

Hi! The rulers are the just the right thickness to freely pass under the screw. However, if thick batting is used or a product like Soft and Stable, which is a thick foam, the will NOT pass. Yes, I have large extension table that fits around my machine. I purchased it years ago from a couple that makes adjustable extension tables. It is called a sewing mate. I can use it just about any machine I have. If you like you check my blog post about the rulers. I mentions the special foot I use and what I do when the batting is so thick the ruler cannot pass.
