What was your inspiration?
This is my second ruffle top from Emma Seabrooke's pattern, the Claire T. This fabri is black with gold highlights and is NOT see-through, even though the photo might suggest that. This fabric was difficult to photograph with the gold highlights.
What are you most proud of?
This top fits perfectly! I put the body ruffles at a diagonal and then made the sleeves run the length of the ruffles to give the sleeve a waterfall effect instead of horizontal ruffles. I had to piece the 2nd sleeve because when I cut it the first time, I had one set of ruffles falling toward the front of the top and the other toward the back which made it look like I had one sleeve of gold/black ruffles and the other sleeve was entirely black!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Get Emma's addendum handout to the pattern. It is a laminated sheet with tips for working with the ruffle fabric and how to handle seams, etc.
