What materials did you use? Assorted batiks, cotton thread, and Marti Michell's log cabin ruler 8037

What are you most proud of? That I ended up loving the quilt. During the process I would look at the colors and the batiks and just hate it, it took me months to get the blocks sashed together. Once I finished the last of the sashing I stepped back from it and I was so proud of the work I had done and that I kept at it even though I hated the quilt. Once it was all done I was in love, I still haven't found the perfect backing to go with this one so it's not quilted. I usually let the quilt pick the backing so we haven't found the right one yet.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take your time and read the instructions thoroughly. It's easy to get caught in the moment only to realize that you used the wrong side of the ruler or that you sewed down the wrong edge and you now have your Amish mistake. Having the use of a design board in class helped me keep things straight. During my class I heard so many people say they hated this pattern and they hated log cabins but once I found my rhythm I learned to love them. I actually made a second log cabin quilt the day I finished this one.
