Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Casual, Outdoorsy

Materials

Lopi Icelandic Wool in natural colors

What was your inspiration?

I needed a ski sweater. Icelandic wool is a wonderful chice of yarn for such a sweater, and the traditional 'Nordic' style pattern.

What are you most proud of?

This sweather has only two small seams (one under each arm approx. 1" long). The sweather is knit on circular needles from the neck/yoke down, split on to smaller round needles for each sleeve, and continued on a single circular needle for the bottom of the sweater. I love the pattern.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Have some advance knowledge and experience in pattern reading and implementation.

Looking at the stitches, I believe this pattern is knit from the bottom up.

Would you tell me the name of the book this came from or leaflet? I really like it because it is knit from the neck down. There were'n any of the ones I have seen on line that were like that. Thanks so much for all the help you have been.

Here's another link. Sweaters 2 & 3 are very similar, in fact, I like them both. http://www.camillavalleyfarm.com/lopi/lopibook23.htm

Sorry, sent the wrong link. But the sweaters are pretty in the one I sent, just very expensive and already made. Anyhow, here is the one I meant to send. http://istex.is/prjonabok/Istex16.html

Here is a link I found on the web for patterns just like the one I made. I love the Icelandic wool yarn. When I made this, my son and I were quite avid skiers. This wool is just perfect for ski sweaters. I made one for him and one for me. It was in the 1980's. But the patterns in this link are nearly identical. One would only perhpaps need to use different colors of yarn. http://www.nordicstore.net/icelandic_womens_wool_sweaters_1449_ctg.htm

Do you have the pattern? Is it from a book that I could purchase?

I'll have to check and see. I may have given it away. It is from a Reynolds book from the 1980's for Lopi Icelandic Wool Yarn. If I can find it I will certainly let you know. I
