What was your inspiration?

A young man in my neighborhood, age 17, is battling leukemia. He has had several complications from the chemo - so my neighbor, Judi, and I put this together for him. He is active in ROTC. We wanted to give him some warm wishes. It was great working with Judi to make this - she was the ironer and I was the sewer - and for those of you that love to quilt - the ironing of every seam takes some time - so we had a whole process going on - while we listened to music and caught up.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Pretty easy pattern. We played around a little with our choice of material and the border sizes - but that's the fun of quilting. You get to make the changes that makes sense to you.
