Hi Dolly, Faye Labanaris is a fantastic teacher and author of books for Baltimore Album style quilts. She taught last year for Elly Sienkiewiczs annual Baltimore Album retreat. In the past she has also been a vendor there. She developed the pattern for the Victorian Necktie Roses which are made from a mans tie. She sells her pattern online on her website, www.fayelabanaris.com, go to News and then you will find the Rose ties. The pattern is well written - it is basically 8 steps but with each step there is an accompanying picture that is clear. If you are familiar with some of the Baltimore Album techniques for folding roses from ribbon, you might be able to figure it out. I actually tried but was not successful until I received Fayes patterns - she has a couple of tricks that make it work. (I am wondering - havent tried this but am wondering if silk, lined with a fusible for weight and anti-fraying, sewn in the shape and length of a mans tie would provide the same outcome - thinking about this only because i would prefer not to be limited to mans ties.) Faye also sells Rose ties already folded on her web site. I have purchased a few and they are lovely - where else can you get a Valentino tie folded like a rose for $25.00 - much cheaper than the taffy pull I have with my husband when I want to permanently repurpose one of his ties :) Faye also has a gorgeous collection of vintage French wire ribbon. I love these ties and especially love them on Taras bag. Hope this helps! Thank you for your kind words!
