What was your inspiration?

Maggie's course and then Monique LHuillier's 'Sunday Rose' wedding gown.

What are you most proud of?

For me this really embodied the look and style of Monque's dress design.

This cake is for a wedding fair I am exhibiting at in January and I wanted to show how a cake could be designed around a dress.

This course is fantastic and will teach you the ruffle and adaptations of it. Fantastic course - recommended!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Give it a go. Ruffling is far easier than the final product looks - you will wow your clients!

I wish I could see the bak of this cake...to see how the pleats on the top tier were formed? It is BEAUTIFUL!

Did you put the roses on the cake as you were frilling or after the cake was stacked in tiers? If the latter was there much breakage? Also, how long did it take you to complete the frilled and rose section? GORGEOUS!!

This cake is stuffing - could I ask did you learn how to do the pleating and stitching on the top of this cake from this course or did you learn it from another source - thank you.

I just had a go, is the honest answer. I had a picture of the wedding dress as reference and created a panel for each pleat, folded the edge and then used a tuck wheel (I think thats what it's called to create the stitching). Colette Peters talks about this inone of her classes (the wheel).

I had to google that dress! love the cake, it's so original, and the shade of ivory is perfect! I am doing a dress cake too, can't wait for the wedding show season to begin! :D

The dss was featured in a Macy's ad in Martha Stewart Weddings magazine for fall 2012. I bought themag on ebay but will be signing up for a subscription as there as soooo many dresses featured you'd be spoilt for choices of inspiration.
