I used the first 9 rings of the 3-D rose from my "Eternal Rose Cross" pattern to put into the purchased filigree finding. I added a 4mm glass pearl to the thread end when I sewed down through the center, then brought both thread ends through the filigree and out at the top. I tied one end back onto a shuttle to tat the final ring, joining it to the frame.
The frame is tatted with one shuttle and the ball thread, with 24 seed beads strung onto the shuttle thread before starting to tat. It's alternating rings and chains. Some of the chains are longer, as can be seen in the picture. I like how these longer chains add a design interest to the shape.
Because the lace "frame" surrounding the suspended filigree is so open, it needed stiffening to stay in shape. I painted "Fa-brick" stiffener on the back only. I like to keep the natural sheen of the cotton thread untouched on the front.I used the first 9 rings of the 3-D rose from my "Eternal Rose Cross" pattern to put into the purchased filigree finding.
