What materials did you use? Cotton clothes line rope, cotton fabric and coordinating thread.

What are you most proud of? I love how well it looks in the kitchen.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Make sure you have plenty of cord and fabric. I used a 3/16 inch rope and 1.25 inch by 44 inch strips of fabric. It took 140 feet of rope and almost 3 yards of fabric. I started with an 18 inch section of wrapped rope folded over and started sewing with a double zigzag stitch and just kept going around until it was large enough to put on the floor by the sink.

What a super idea! It's a great rug! It must have taken a long time and a lot of hand stitching! 140 feet of rope? Wow!

If you can use the as quarter inch clothes line it would take less time and rope. I used the 3/16 on mine. I was too impatient to wait until I could get to the store. Fleet Farm carries the quarter inch.
