What was your inspiration?

A display cake I made a couple years ago. I made the roses, leaves and stephanotis from gumpaste. The 2 tiers are covered in cornelli lace - a very easy technique that has a pretty result. I used real ribbons and broaches vs. gumpaste as a more economical way for brides to afford my cakes....that and I'm lazy at times!

Thanks for looking!

Lisa

WOW! How do you use ribbon without it soaking up the oils from the frosting?

Hi, I never really have any trouble with ribbon and buttercream. I first set my stacked cakes in their refridgerator and get the buttercream cold. Then I attach the ribbon and put it back in the fridge until delivery. This cake, however, is fondant, so it wasn't a issue at all but 98% of my wedding cakes are buttercream and I never have a trouble.
