Instructions

This quilt is in a large quilt book that I do not have access to right now. I can get it but I will have to find the book. It was a very difficult quilt to make and took about two-three months. I hand quilted it and it was not easy. It was in a book with 101 trad quilts. All that is needed is a template for the star and the same one end to end for the background. The hard part was sewing all the ...

Materials

Kona cotton, batting, backing, thread, quilt pattern, many cotton fabrics and a lot of time.Actually, it was made using a triangle piece of cardboard and cut lots of strips of fabric and sewed them all together and used the triangle to cut out the stars. Anyway, if anyone wants it, I can get the book name where it is posted.

What was your inspiration?

The picture in a book that I own. It is stored and can be found at a later time. I love this one. It is for sale on etsy at Joyful Couture.

What are you most proud of?

That I had the energy and know-how to make it and then hand quilt it. I am older now and could never do this again. I had it appraised at around $3,000.00.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Buy the cotton fabric and go for it. Have patience with yourself as it is not an easy one to make. It is stunning when done but really looks best on the wall. I had it on the bed but it fell flat. It has to be far away to get the best view of it. It is one of my favorites but has to be sold.

So gorgeous. It reminds me of the old fashioned truly Mexican pinatas.

What do you mean? See the quilt in the photos? You mean see it in person? It is very nice but very heavy. Too heavy for the bed. It needs to be on a wall. I live in a park model so there isn't enough room for me let alone a quilt queen quilt on the wall. It would have to cover a window and we have few of those. Thanks for the comment!
