What materials did you use? Discarded/found chair frame; washed, sanded and spray painted with 2 cans black shiny acrylic paint; designed/sewed 2 cushions used extra large purchased pillow in each cushion. When friends come over they fight over who gets to sit in it!

What are you most proud of? The fantastic synergy that happens when creativity overcomes adversity!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Let your imagination go, use a sketchbook (bigger is better) with good quality graphite/pencils and swatches and don't be afraid of costs...you can do a lot with stuff that people throw away...but you have to use a lot of ammonia, hot water, rubber gloves, and elbow grease! This is key! Clean is the idea!

I'll be adding additonal photos to show how the chair looked when I found it at the side of the curb! Do you think I could teach a class on this?

"The fantastic synergy that happens when creativity overcomes adversity!" GREAT way to describe it. And the chair is awesome!

I'm making piping for slip covering some cushions that are for my wood frame couch. Do I need to cut these on the bias? I am making the slip coverings out of white denim. Thank you.

Just gorgeous! I am doing pillows, duvet, shams, window seat cushions, and drapes for my bedroom, in an almost identical motif: black & white houndstooth as the accent pattern, with a black & white floral as the primary pattern. I hadn't thought of doing a colored piping, but I LOVE how it looks using the red piping as you did -- it really pops and it looks stunning! What an inspiration!
