What are you most proud of? Although this pattern is shown here in a Christmas style this pattern would work all year round - the robin could be changed for a bluebird or a retro-bird (turquoise or pink maybe). I also love that the envelope uses two fabrics so it is a great chance to play around with colour and pattern.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Send one of these mug rugs in place of a Christmas card - include a note or photo in the mock envelope pocket. A handmade gift is always a delight to make and a pleasure to receive. And whilst you are at it - make a couple for the Church bazaar or fete.

I think this is just about my favorite of the new Christmas mug rugs. I love the fabrics in this one, and the envelope pocket is sheer genius!

There is just so much wonderful fabric out there. I don't like to waste an inch of it!

There are many talented designers of mug rugs on Craftsy, but the absolute cream of the artists is The Patchsmith. I think of her designs as mini quilts and take joy in creating these little jewels. I anxiously watch for every new design and it is like Christmas each time a new pattern is offered.

What a lovely thing to say Betty. I am so glad you like my little patterns. It is nice to make something practical and small sometimes and I am glad my designs hit the spot..
