Type of item: Functional

For: Unisex

Style: Cute, Eco-Friendly

Materials

Strawberry Carton from the grocery store and a pants hanger from the cleaners.

What was your inspiration?

I was making a baby gift with ribbon, and trying to keep it from rolling all over the place. I tried putting the spools on a pants hanger with the cardboard roll, but the ribbon will take off if you don't keep the ends pinned! When I was cleaning the strawberries for dinner, I noticed the little slots in the carton, and thought about the ribbon. After washing it and letting it dry, it worked perfectly!

What are you most proud of?

Reusing an item that would have been thrown in the trash. I just can't believe how many ribbon holders I have thrown away!!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

In the strawberry box, make sure you have the ribbons next to each other rolling in opposite directions so that only the ribbon you want is unrolling. Don't crowd the spools or they won't unroll very easily. Put smaller spools toward the end on the hanger and in the carton.

My nieces and I were trying to contain the ribbon the other day...We ended up just shoving back in the drawer. This is a great idea and I love fruit. I will really impress the girls.
