What was your inspiration?
I love figuring out reversible patterns and working with the stitches to achieve a particular design.
What are you most proud of?
I think this is a really versatile design and could be made in any color combination to fit your decor. If you're not a fan of weaving in ends, the fringed placemat is a perfect project!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
This is not as complicated as it looks! The reversible design is achieved by alternating rows of tan with medium blue, using a combination of sc and long hdc which are worked into the previous row. The long hdc are worked with tan on odd rows and medium blue on even rows creating the reversible effect. A length of thread is left at each end of the rows for the fringed placemat; the ends are woven in for the bordered placemat. The placemats are worked with two strands of thread held together. A design chart is also included with the pattern.
The finished sizes are:
12" x 18-1/2" with Border
12" x 20-3/4" with Fringe
This pattern is available for $3.00 and is written in U.S. terms.
