Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Quilting Quickly: Patterns, Techniques & Tips »

Instructions

I added grommets and made tote reversible. I also made the bottom wider and gave it a tapered look.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

For: Women

Style: Mod, Casual, Holiday, Cute

Materials

Timeless Treasures I Love UK British Flag & British Tube Map 100% Cotton Fabric, Grommets and plain black fabric for handles. Batting for handles and tote.

What was your inspiration?

The fabric, I just loved the fabric and wanted to use it for a tote.

What are you most proud of?

Deviating from the pattern. I added the grommets and tapered the bag instead of making it boxy. These are my own personal touches.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Take your time and follow the steps, it's not as intimidating as it may look.

I not only love the bag, I also love the fabric, so much so that I bought the last of it at the quilt shop and made a quilt for a young lad who comes from England.

I love it! As an Englishwoman I'd find this bag SO useful for getting around on the London Underground! Apart from that, it would look really good with almost any outfit. Well done!

I'll have a hard time making it reversible as I am addicted to POCKETS!

In one sense yes, but there is nothing wrong with having a pocket on the outside if you want. By the way, congratulations on trying stippling. My Disappearing 9 Patch I have posted is my first attempt at stippling a finished product. After so much practising, you really have to dive right in and go for it!

The tapered sides are so much more feminine. VERY nice deviation!

I've been planning to make a purse with gromets. The idea of being able to open it up completely to see inside intrigues me. I saw one at a craft sale and liked it. Yours looks great!
