This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Bag-Making Basics: Reversible Tote & Zipper Pouch »
Instructions
Follow the directions, which are clear and easy. Don't be afraid of the zipper, as long as you have a good zipper foot. Make video notes for layering the pieces--at first, if you are a beginner or have difficulty visualizing something inside out and back to front, the video notes are reassuring!Difficulty:
Category: Sewing
Type of item: Functional
For: Unisex
Style: Casual, Retro / Vintage, Cute, Eco-Friendly
Materials
I used a variety of fabrics from my stash, and supplemented with some tablecloth fabric, drapery fabric, and some leftover upholstery material from my couch.
What was your inspiration?
This course was free, so thank you for that! I had never made bags before, and enjoyed this so much. This was very timely, being so close to Christmas. I can see myself taking the longer course, once I work my way through the many knitting, sewing Craftsy courses I am enrolled in.
What are you most proud of?
I was happy to use most of the fabric from my leftover pile from other projects, and that I was able to match the fronts of the zippered pouches so that the pattern continues, even though interrupted by the zipper.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Start with the Reversible Tote Bag, as that is easier, and gives you a better idea about doing linings and turning things inside out, without stitching yourself into a corner!
