Bag-Making Basics: Reversible Tote & Zipper Pouch »

Instructions

My first time using Thermolam ... it's great! The bag seems sturdy. Just don't use too much in the handles - one strip the width of the finished handle is plenty, otherwise it's hard to sew and looks weird.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Unisex

Style: Classic

Materials

Kona cotton, thermolam fusible interfacing, machine embroidered designs

What was your inspiration?

This is a gift bag for my dad's upcoming birthday (he's a scuba diver & instructor)

What are you most proud of?

Finally getting the corners boxed accurately, they're just hard to line up!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

When boxing corners, take extra care with lining seams up if you've used a thicker interfacing. When pinning, actually pull the seam open a bit with your fingers before sticking the pin in to make sure you've got it exactly in the crack of the seam. Otherwise, like mine did a few times, it won't line up at all!
