Tell us more about what inspired you. Saw a youtube vid from The Gourmet Quilter about how to create a QAYG block and off I went.....

What materials did you use? Remnants of Chintz and upholstery fabric from the '90's (which I nearly ran out of eeek!) and bought swirled cotton and batik to frame.

What are you most proud of? The dual coloured double fold binding!!! I made a practice strip of quilt and practiced with various ratios of each fabric until I got it right; and it came out beautifully, exactly 50/50, black on the Parrot side, brown on the Map side...perfect!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? QAYG is certainly a way to go if you are doubtful about manhandling your quilt under a small machine...also if one of your blocks goes awry you can make another and you haven't ruined an entire quilt!!!

I love the colors. It's such a happy quilt.

Love this! colors are wonderful on both sides, but I agree about the Parrots. I had seen the same video and am very tempted to try it. Seems easier to handle, but lots of steps?? Would you make another one this way?

Just seen this comment...and in the two years since I have made many quilts the same way, QAYG.... your 'block' can be any size you are comfortable largest QAYG project (so far) were six blocks of 30 1/2" x 40 1/2" which made The HSTathon.
