Reversible BowTie Mug Rug

Side 1

Side 1
Side 2 a bit blurry..
Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Men

Style: Funky, Whimsical

Materials

The black and white fabrics are Kona. The prints are madras plaid, and another cotton print I've had for ages.

What was your inspiration?

My son-in-law loves bow ties. I made this especially for him.

It finishes out about 12" square. It consists of two bow-tie blocks with heat resistant batting in the middle, and bound with black Kona non-bias tape. I think I cut the binding strips 2" wide, but I can't recall for sure.

What are you most proud of?

I had fun with the channel quilting. I haven't quilted anything big, and I'm a bit anxious about quilting the BOM quilt, when it's time.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I'd like to find a pattern that has a rectangle/square for the center piece. I think it would look better. BTW I found several bow tie tutorials online. Google is my friend.

Thanks Pieceful1! I'm working on a idea for a follow-up (incorporating the bow-tie & the wild plaids he is so found of wearing! lol) He calls them his "Party/Holiday Plaids" and is getting the whole family into this trend!

tomib.. It was pretty big... I'm guessing around 12" square finished. You could put a mug on each corner. My daughter's "Mug Rug to the Stars" is the same size, and is posted in my projects with a mug ON the mug rug.
