How much buttercream did you apply to the frills in order for it to hold securely

Actually, I didn't apply any - I did a heavier layer of crumb coat and while the icing was dampish, I applied the fondant strips. As I worked on the rows above, I would go back to the lower rows and lift the fondant so that it would dry outward. Very easy to do. Lisa
