What was your inspiration?

California has passed a law that they charge for bags, unless you bring your own. My sis-in-law really liked this style of bag, so I made a bunch.

What are you most proud of?

Used French seams to give a nice finish to inside. Also used the plastic snaps used for diapers. The designs and colors give more variety to match or coordinate colors. Altered original pattern to make handle longer so that it fit over shoulder better.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't be afraid of pattern books in other languages. I don't read a lick of Japanese, but the diagrams with measurements in centimeters I can decipher.
