3-ply crochet nylon in 150 yd. (137 m) tubes: taupe - 1 to 2 tubes, light ecru - 1 tube; a size G (4 mm) crochet hook; large decorative button; and 1/4 to 1/2 yd. of coordinating fabric and matching sewing thread for lining.
What was your inspiration?
I love figuring out reversible designs and thought it would be fun to try a purse for something different.
What are you most proud of?
The design is reversible, so you can choose which is your favorite side to be on the outside of the purse ... or choose one of each!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
This is not as complicated as it looks! The reversible design is achieved by alternating rows of taupe with light ecru, using a combination of sc and long hdc which are worked into the previous row. The long hdc are worked with taupe on odd rows and light ecru on even rows creating the reversible effect. A length of thread is left at the bottom edge of the purse and tied for the fringe. A design chart is also included with the pattern.
The finished sizes, without fringe, are:
Small Purse - 7-1/2 wide x 5-3/4" tall
Large Purse - 10" wide x 9 tall
