For: Women
Style: Retro / Vintage
Materials
cotton fleece bought in the 80s, who'd have thought the colour would be fashionable once again?! The retro camera was found online (free) and then I used buttonhole twist to stitch the chain up to the shoulder line.
What was your inspiration?
The faded pinky red 80s fabric. It just screamed retro.
What are you most proud of?
The finished product is pretty schmick I think. And my daughter described it as amazboz. What more can I say. Also the iron on transfer which is topstitched looks pretty cool.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Trial scraps of fabric with various stabilising additions for the shoulder seam. I used clear silicone elastic in this project and wished I hadn't, its too stiff. I have used twill tape but think I prefer scraps of old nylon lace, its much softer. I would also not start centre back for attaching the hood, you can see it when the garment is folded.
