The geometric is a stencilThe rose is a smaller version of one I did on muslin
The chicken was drawn with quilting feathers, painted and then quilted, the opposite of what most people do. They quilt first. I actually drew it on a paper and copied it to the towel

I used Bill's hankies for the first two and my Mom's kitchen towel for the chicken. My friend lost her husband in August. I knew she was going to be alone on Christmas. I e-mailed her Christmas eve and asked for a hankie of his. She sent two in case I goofed up. I would have never come up with that if I hadn't taken this class. I have a feeling I will be doing a lot of these hankies. I have e-mailed a few others for hankies now.
What was your inspiration?
The class, of course. This class has been so good for me. I have grown as a quilter and also my brain has gone in a different direction for what I can quilt
What are you most proud of?
I am able to do something for someone that is meaningful and beautiful. The remembrance can out as a decoration instead of in a drawer.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
The hankie doesn't have to be square. Put it on another piece of fabric, squaring up that fabric bigger than the hankie so the edges of the hankie show. No one will ever see that unless it is pointed out. Which will be fun.
