Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Men

Style: Classic

Materials

Multi design background fabric and a marblized fabric and poppies from a floral fabric. Emblished with medals from each division of the forces

What was your inspiration?

I was inspired by two veterans who lived at the retirement home and who told me lots of stories. One even wrote a book, 17 Days to Christmas. They have since passed on but I have pictures of them standing proudly beside the quilt. They even asked me to put medals on it, so I did just that.

What are you most proud of?

How it makes people stop and remember what sacrifies these men and women made.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The back ground fabric was the most important as it needs to look like a battle field. I used a white marbleized fabric for the cross to show aging. The poppies look rich and bold. What is best of all, is having a veteran tell you his story and try to pull some of his/her memories into the quilt

Love your quilt. I went to flanders fields about ten years ago and the poppies really remind me of that journey.
